June 1 saw the announcement of EXTINCTION. Not a real Ragnarok situation, but an Action-RPG revolving around a similar idea. In light of this week's ongoing E3 reveals, news and announcements, we've been presented with a 5-minute video demonstrating how we'll be slicing up Ravanii and dismembering massive Ogres.

EXTINCTION has you run around as Avil - one of the last warriors able to take the fight to the endless waves of the Ravenii plowing through the countryside. Striking a resemblance to that of a lighter Prince of Persia, Avil can race around with a blade at his side while traversing buildings, dashing through their air and floating back down - or opting to gain massive air by bouncing from rooftop awnings and leafy treetops. His mission? To save lives, obviously.

Scaling the remaining structures of the town, however gives Avil the vantage point he needs to identify threats running through town - groups of Ravenii foot-soldiers trampling through the streets. A fine flurry of blows are needed to take these man-sized beasts down while a greater threat begins making light work of the remaining remnants of the town. From then on, it's down to Avil's runic abilities to shred the armor of the pounding Ogre menace to deliver a decisive blow its seemingly soft neck. The video demonstration down below clocks in at just under 6 minutes. Giving a run-down of Avil's agility, swordsmanship and ability to cut through a monster like butter, we begin to wonder why the smaller enemies take far more swings. EXTINCTION is due to release early next year.
