Greedfall is the next high-profile narrative RPG from the Spiders dev studio, known for their Mars: War Logs, Bound by Flame, and Technomancer titles, and it's now been slated for a September release date!
Following the adventures of swashbuckling trailblazers as they attempt to tame a land wilder than any other, Greedfall will tackle themes of colonialism and naturalism, allowing players to carve their character's destiny in a context that's not often explored in games.
According to the official description of Greedfall, this narrative RPG will allow players to
"engage in a core roleplaying experience", which is a very fancy way of saying that this is, indeed, a quest-driven role-playing game with NPCs, towns, and your usual repertoire of features.
More interesting is the promise of
"complete freedom in character progression", which may or may not pan out, depending on how Spiders tackled this game's development, but seeing as how they keep releasing better and better RPGs, we've got high hopes.
Interested players should look for Greedfall on Steam, come
10th of September, but in the meantime, be sure to watch the announcement trailer below, so as to get a grip on what sort of RPG this might be.
