Stronghold 4 is giving RTS fans the chance to once again create and build their own medieval castle and settlement, 25 years since the series started. Original developer Firefly Studios is once again in charge of development, with an early access release planned to arrive on PC in late 2026. A demo is currently available to play.
Stronghold 4 is the latest mainline entry into the BAFTA-nominated castle sim series, and for the first time is built in Unreal Engine 5, with enhanced, modern visuals. Quality-of-life additions are also included, such as game speed options, rebindable hotkeys, customizable resource counters, control groups, rally points, and more. Moats and tunnels make their return, as does the Honor system and building cutaways.
Stronghold 4 also includes multiple game modes: a full Skirmish Trail, Free Build, and Custom Skirmish with eight CPU opponents. Its big story campaign is set before the first Stronghold and covers 22 missions.
