Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is the upcoming follow-up to 2021's Aliens: Fireteam Elite, developed by Cold Iron Studios and published by Daybreak Game Company. The co-op third-person shooter will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 25, 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 port also arriving in late 2026.
Players step into the boots of a Colonial Marine sent to investigate the Storr Boon's Mining Facility on LV-558, battling everything from Xenomorph hordes to rogue synthetic androids alongside a three-person fireteam of human or AI-controlled allies. The campaign spans roughly 15 missions across four distinct biomes, and difficulty can be reshaped with Challenge Cards that layer in buffs to make things easier or handicaps for better rewards. A standalone horde mode rounds out the package, and the game will support cross-platform play and voice chat from the get-go.
Feedback from the first game pushed Cold Iron to expand the fireteam to four players this time around, a change they say opened up richer ability combos and class synergies even as it forced them to rethink how enemy density scales against a bigger squad. A new fully customisable Specialist class adds another layer of coordination. Moreover, quality-of-life additions like crouching have made it into the sequel, with friendly fire kicking in once you climb to the higher difficulties.
The studio also partnered directly with 20th Century Studios on new alien designs, and director Chris Cross has said the story carries a stronger, more consistent throughline than the original, though we won't be able to verify that until the game arrives.
