Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is the sequel to developer Cold Iron Studios’ 2021 third-person co-op shooter, throwing us into a desperate battle against even deadlier swarms of Xenomorphs. Below, we break down everything known so far about the Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 release date, supported platforms, gameplay details, trailers, and the latest updates from the developers.
Aside from new types of aliens that threaten our squad of Colonial Marines and expanded teamplay, the sequel also introduces a fully customizable class that adapts itself to different playstyles.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Release Date
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s release date has finally been locked after we were promised it would arrive in Q3 2026.
- Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 release date: August 25, 2026
We also know a Nintendo Switch 2 port will arrive this fall.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Gameplay
Gameplay-wise, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 increases the number of players that can join a squad from three to four.
Aside from altering the way we think about approaching each battle, this new dynamic is also complemented by “deeper team-based mechanics that reward coordination and strategic class composition.”
The sequel brings “new and improved classes” whose distinct abilities help us get the upper hand in battles when coordinated properly.
A look at the Marauder reveals it brings devastating firepower through not just its customizable shoulder-mounted Blast Cannon, which, depending on the chosen upgrade, can turn into a flamethrower or rocket launcher, but perks and signature weapons that favour an aggressive playstyle.
The Duelist wields heavy and revolver rifles, its abilities and perks making it an adaptable class that can also use its shrapnel grenade to disrupt opponents.
Interestingly enough, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 also adds the Specialist as “a fully customizable class” that can “mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class.”
The Specialist is described by the developer as “the pinnacle of where you can take your builds” in the sequel. To access it, we need to first level up the other classes and gain access to their abilities.
Where the other five classes lean into more specific roles, the Specialist allows us to remove those barriers and create interesting hybrids, opening up new possibilities that are bound to shine when pushing into endgame.
Furthermore, the addition of new Xenomorphs means we’ll have to adapt our tactics accordingly. Thankfully, our arsenal isn’t lacking, ranging from stun batons to assault rifles, flamethrowers, and a variety of other deadly ranged weaponry and gadgets.
Its launch version also promises multiple Horde mode maps.
