Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is built on Warcore, Creative Assembly's new engine designed with console hardware in mind from the outset. The game won't be ported after the fact — a first for the Total War series, and that allows the simultaneous PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch. Creative Assembly has also said the engine is intended to scale Total War's demanding simulations down more gracefully on lower-spec machines, though this remains unverified ahead of release.
As of August 2026, the only requirements Creative Assembly has published are the operating systems: Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum and Windows 11 64-bit as the recommended (totally unsurprising). The remaining specs have not been announced, which isn't a shock given the game has no confirmed release date.
